Nutritional management consists of a systematic approach intended to modulate the immune responsiveness of animals through the feed, in order to make them less susceptible to Salmonella colonization. Feed supplementation has long been used to counteract zoonotic agents (Salmonella spp., Campylobacter spp.) and other gram-negative pathogenic bacteria in animal food production, not only to establish a healthy gut but also to contribute to safe food stuffs for human population (Van Immerseel et al, 2009).
